2010 UNGASS Coutry Progress Report

In June 2001, at the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on HIV/AIDS (UNGASS), Viet Nam was one of 189 countries to adopt the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS .  As a result, every two years Viet Nam reports to the UN General Assembly on progress made in the national response to HIV and AIDS.  The Third Country Report on Following up the Implementation to the Declaration of Commitment on HIV was submitted in January 2008.  The fourth UNGASS Country Progress Report is due on 31 March 2010.

The Guidelines on Construction of Core Indicators 2010 Reporting outlines key information on the core indicators and submission of the report.

Although governments initially endorsed the Declaration, the process of preparing the country progress reports should involve all partners involved in the AIDS response and provide an opportunity for reflection on the national response, its achievements as well as obstacles for achieving Universal Access. Civil society organizations, along with United Nations partners and donors, are well positioned to augment data collected by governments and participate in the review and vetting process for progress reports.
