2011 High Level Meeting on AIDS Renews Commitments to Universal Access
The United Nations General Assembly is convening a High Level Meeting on AIDS on 8-11 June, 2011 in New York.
On this occasion, many of us will recall the landmark 2001 UN General Assembly Special Session on HIV/AIDS, where a Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS set global targets and the “UNGASS” reporting system that guide the global response, and also the 2006 High Level Meeting at the UN General Assembly, when UN Member States committed to reach universal access to comprehensive HIV services. The 2011 meeting at the General Assembly is another milestone in global leadership of the HIV response.
